I recently covered KDA’s dealer meeting in Vegas and it wasn’t what I expected. First, it was huge. There were over 1,200 dealers in attendance. And second, it was all about software, solutions and service. There were no new hardware announcements since they refreshed their entire product line in FY 2017.
Look at some of the top fiscal year 2018 challenges and corporate directions Kyocera executives were discussing:
- Business Process Optimization (BPO) and Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions
- The Internet of Things
- Variable Data Printing
- and High-speed Production Inkjet Presses
Like I said, this was not what I expected. It wasn’t a copier sales conference – it was an educational event focused on moving the company and its dealers beyond box sales and into an approach they are calling Total Document Solutions (TDS). TDS 2.0 is KDA’s second-generation approach to bringing customers the hardware, software and services needed to run their businesses more effectively.
